Before they had no bedtime routine whatsoever...besides brushing their teeth and reading bedtime stories. They would wait up until either me or Hugo were ready to go to bed. Or we waited until they knocked out on the sofa or the floor then we would put them in the bed.
Now, at 8pm they brush their teeth, change to pjs. and go to bed (in their room). We'll read them a couple of books, say their prayers, good night hugs and kisses....and we leave the room. No more laying with them and waiting until they fall asleep.
The first week was hard for everyone...they cried once we left the room and they would wake up around 2am or so and cry some more. We would let them cry a little to see if they would just go back to sleep. Sometimes they do and sometimes they come into our room.
So the other night....Hannah woke up around midnight and started crying and calling for Mama. And this is what went down:
Hannah: "wahhhhh-wahhhh Mommy I smell....I pooped mommy"
"wahhhhh-wahhhh Mommy I pooped, come change my diaper"
"wahhhhh-wahhhh I want you Mommy"
------still no mommy--------
------crying continues-------
"wahhh-wahhh Mommy my back hurts Mommy"
"wahhh-wahhh I'm hurting Mommy"
"are you listening!!!" "listen Mommy wake up!!!"
-----still no mommy-----
"Papa ?? I love you Papa come sleep with me"
"Papa ??"
"LISTENNNN" "wahhhhhh-wahhhh"
Hugo and I were cracking up hearing her blurt one thing after another...waiting to see what she would say next. Eventually the crying stopped and she came into our room =/
Sorry kids we love you soooo much but its time Mama and Papa get their king bed all to themselves now. Some kids sleep in their room ever since they were born so you guys should consider yourselves lucky !!
